Ingenuity and team spirit RIG PROJECTS John Shaw - SPS 2014 Customer: Transocean Ltd NUF The project In the period of January - March 2014, Semco Maritime was the main contractor on an extensive Special Periodic Survey (SPS) performed on the drilling rig John Shaw (year built 1982). John Shaw is a semi-submersible drilling rig and the vessel is approximatly 85 metres long, 64 metres wide and 110 metres tall. In order to secure the rig safely at the quay, Semco Maritime installed additional mooring bits 18 metres into the quay. The general scope of the project that Semco Maritime delivered to the customer included a complete EPCI: • • • • • Engineering Project Management Procurement Construction Installation Technical description The scope involved a full EPCI contract including all electrical disciplines. Furthermore it contained various scopes within: • • • • • Steel replacement Lifeboats - davits replacement Accommodation Painting Top drive upgrade Country: Denmark (Esbjerg) Period: January - March 2014 The project involved 400 people roundthe-clock, and the SPS was carried out during a 90 days yard stay in Esbjerg, Denmark.
